Skype, Messenger and webcams

must admit when an old friend of mine moved away to Indonesia having a webcam was a brilliant idea, sometimes it nice just to see the facial expressions of the person you are talking to and instant messaging is great by why are some guys so obsessed with this?  Do you have to skype with someone? I think not, but I do like skype I admit, I hope my uncle and aunty in Crete downloads it soon.

Oh yes, of course there's also the family, but I have to say my parents are too lazy with it. That is, dad has installed a windows and a couple of Linux systems on their PC and they do various actions in different OS's. So if I want to talk to them on skype, then they have to lrestart PC to get to Windows, so in the end we rarely talk on skype :S I wish they would though..

Thats great Gian, and a very good example of the good points about instant messaging.

skype is the only way i have to see and talk with my daughter when i work on ship. so..! i think is a great thing.  but you better to cover the webcam eye when don't need.      they are watching us

Well, I for sure have a feeling it's not the facial expressions they want to see or show. Because often the invitations to use webcam come like "do you want to see me in shower by webcam?" Then I can usually honestly answer that I don't have webcam :D
