Heres a fact for you, Jāņi or Līgo which is celebrated to well most of the country is also an British thing to. Summer solstice is a Pagan, Christian and Celtic festival and although its not widely known here some people do go to Stonehenge to celebrate the new sun.

Yes, I have heard of Stonehenge, and there's even a reference to British noticing such thing as midsummer in the "Midsummer night's dream".. But yet - in modern Britain it is not as wide-spread thing as in Latvia. And if you talk of midsummer you are more likely to meet a blank stare in Uk than in Latvia :D
