Winston C. May 5 2010 22:25

I have been living and WORKING here for 5 years now, also I can trace you easily...   Seems that you are living a dream, boy!

eM r. May 5 2010 22:12

Zhucks, there should be different names for each days, both cannot be called as independence day, ofcourse this is my opinion (we have similar days here in my country, and even if all is related with having independency, we called all with different names)...
WC, why should I claim that I was in riga ??? is it so hard for u to go there ??? I had been 3 times before, and I was in riga from last friday till today afternoon...

Winston C. May 5 2010 20:26

About this "King of Riga"... Guess that came across with him another day... he hasn't got a crown!!! hehehehehe

Winston C. May 5 2010 20:24

EmRe:

eM rE - there are two independence days of Latvia, because Latvia had to regain independence two times. I guess that very nice lady didn't learn her history very well. Which is a pity because unless she's under 20, the event that caused this celebration day happened within her lifetime. And people DO celebrate it with free day, flags and memorial events, though not as much as the first independence day.

eM r. May 4 2010 18:32

lan, as I learnt from very nice lady independence day of Latvia is 18th of November, and it's the day of the announcment of the declaration of independance of Latvia. She also told me that no one celebrates this day, but I had been in a concert of a famous latvian singer, in old riga :D

Lina
Hmm, then I would say, based on the amount of mistakes, that google translator is managing Russian a tad bit more better than Latvian.

Ian, as if you didn't know that kings aren't elected, they appoint themselves! Well, and some of the self-appointed rulers of universe also end up in the funny house :D

Ian F. May 4 2010 13:33

The "King of Riga" is in amigos so you can talk to him, ask him who elected him cause i'm pretty sure no one I know did :D

Thanks :)
Btw, I've once been "honoured" with a talk to this "King of Riga" and it appears that all his kingship is concentrated in one organ. Ant it isn't brain or heart :D

Ian F. May 4 2010 12:08

yes i'm foreign, and foreign here to cause this is a Latvian site, however i'm not a tourist really, just someone who has spent alot of time with Latvians (male and female)

Blocked profile May 4 2010 12:03

Uussually less than a foreign person :)
Yes, but thanks of course, we should be happy to be independent Latvians!

Lina, it's weird! because I also used the google translator and got the sentence highlighted in bold (in my first comment)! So google gives translations as it wishes?
Ian, it's not your language that usually does it, it's Inglish (remember?)

English seems to be the common language here, and I am proud of being English and also proud of having foreign friends, I am also ashamed cause my language could put a girl with a guy that her family would never approve of.

I guess babelfish.yahoo.com is better than nothing...?
But you make a good point.

People should speak in languages they know, not using online translators, not trying to write gramatically incorrect foolish sentences like "hav u bin UK" or something like that. And yes, you can always see if someone uses online translators. Sometimes I translate something there to laugh, it comes out very funny:)
Google translate "you are beautiful and you are me very much" ))
